We collaborated with our friends at Rig2 on the Christy 2024 Wimbledon Campaign.
Titled ‘Icons meet Icons’ the campaign sees giant versions of Christy’s famous Wimbledon Championship Towel wrapped around some of the world’s most iconic monuments.
Running across both print and video and launching just prior to the start of the tournament - it’s already seen huge engagement from fans of both brands, racking up millions of views, likes and comments - making it Christy's biggest-ever Wimbledon campaign.
This project presented us some fun creative challenges to solve. The first was finding the perfect locations - we wanted each to have its own ‘personality’ and enable us to show-off the Wimbledon Championship towel in interesting ways. Once shortlisted, we headed out on-location with Rig2 and some actors to capture the footage we needed.
For video, the Championship towel was modelled and animated entirely in 3D by adam+gary, allowing complete control and flexibility of its movements, physics, scale, and how the towel interacts with the landmarks. Special attention was given to recreating the unique cotton loop texture of a Christy towel, from how the yarn is spun to how it interacts with light, ensuring it looked as fluffy and absorbent as the real thing in any situation or size.
The video footage and 3D towel was then seamlessly combined to create a Mixed Reality video with a bespoke audio mix for each location, and you can see the videos that have been released so far below.
